E-commerce arrived to remain: Its development in Chile surpasses the average of Latin America
The Chamber of Commerce of Santiago emphasized the increase of 30% in the number of people who bought by Internet the last year, in spite of the economic deceleration
SANTIAGO. - The electronic commerce arrived to remain. That is the main conclusion at which the exhibitors in the opening arrived from the seventh edition of the E-commerce Day Santiago 2015.
Marked by the importance and the growth that this type of commerce in Latin America in the last years has had, bussiness to leader & personnel payments of Visa, Brayan Peralta, indicated that e-commerce generated gains of US$ 52 billions in the region in 2014. And that number, anticipates, will follow the rise in a 23% for this year.
Peralta indicated that the index of development of e-commerce in Chile surpasses the average of Latin America with US$ 3,492, 5 million.
In addition, he emphasized that the growth of the electronic commerce in Chile is due, mainly, to the advance in the technology and its help to construct confidence at the time of buying and giving financial and personal data to the payment companies.
On the other hand, he classified the users in four groups: Navigator (20%), who enters Internet day to day and buys once a month through this channel; the Explorer (28%); the Spectator (35%), that one that does not use it frequently; and the Traditionalistic one (17.3%) that prefers the actual purchase.
Finally, the director of the training center of digital economy of the Chamber of Commerce of Santiago, George Lever, added that in 2014 the buyers through this channel raised in a 30% and that, in spite of the economic deceleration, the cost average per person was of US$ 600. The heading that more transactions produces in Chile is the one of trips.
